The project consisted of building a multi-functioning space; garage/guest house, pool house, and entertainment area.  This new building was proposed as a anchor in the drive court  to the main house.  The building was designed to reflect the neocolonial architecture of the  1880’s   with modern convenience and detailed elements.

Traditional materials including  lead coated copper, cedar roof and siding, stained tongue and grove cedar siding, barn doors and hardware, and field stone were used in the design.  The interiors boast stained concrete floors, pickled quarter sawn oak, operable basketball court, full bath and changing area, exterior shower, and contemporary gliding doors which lead down to the pool.

As a note, barn doors were designed to  conceal modern gliding doors with an aluminum cladding and riveting to imitate a canoe cladding.

The landscaping and pool terrace, designed by Bosenberg  & Co. Landscape Architects grounds this new building and pool to the landscape.  Granite, quarried within ten miles, provided both terrace paving and monumental staircase risers which reinforced the  unique dichotomy of traditional to contemporary design and materials.
